The Midwest Machine 14U Hoffman team ended up undefeated in the Melrose Park Fall League to win it all in the 16U division. With Blazers at 2nd & 3rd, 2 outs in the FINAL, #5 Sam Washkevich made a high light reel catch to shift momentum in the direction of the Midwest Machine. #5 Sam W playing SS made a phenomenal catch running backwards over her right shoulder to rob the Blazers of a single that was ticketed for left field and 2RBI. The Machine rallied from a three run deficit to walk off in the 5th beating the Blazers 12-4.

In their final tournament of the season, Midwest Machine 03 (14U) captured 3rd place of 66 teams at the PGF Midwest Regional Championship held in Peoria, IL from July 26 through July 29th.
After getting bounced into the Loser’s Bracket in the first round by Nebraska Gold 13U, the team that eventually won the championship, the girls showed their resilience and rattled off an impressive 9 consecutive victories in a 48-hour period to reach the Final Four. The depleted girls were just edged out by a final score of 10-11 in their Final Four rematch against Nebraska Gold 13U securing the third place finish.
Including pool play, the team’s overall record was 10-3 and they played the most games of any team in the field due to the impressive run in the Loser Bracket. What a great finish to the season!
